Former world's tallest woman dies after hitting height of 7ft 4inches in her 20s

One of the world's former tallest women, Maria Feliciana, has died after a battle with pneumonia. Her family confirmed the former basketball player and singer's death.

One of the world's once tallest women has died following a battle with pneumonia.

Maria Feliciana, 77, broke records in her early twenties after growing to an impressive 7ft 3.8in and was for many years considered the world's tallest woman. She started shrinking later in life and was overtaken by current tallest woman Rumeysa Gelgi, who stands at 7ft 0.71in. Relatives of the 77-year-old confirmed she had been battling health problems for years and say she died at a private hospital in Aracaju, Brazil. The former basketball player and singer became a household name in her home country following her sudden growth spurt.
